Young Adult.įinding Avalon Avalon Monday doesn’t mind telling schoolmates that her mother ran off with a guy she met on the internet. At his lowest moment, he’s forced to do the one thing he fears the most. His mom’s illness means lost jobs, constant moves, new schools and friendships that never get to grow. So, when a classmate offers Corbin the talking bird she can no longer keep, he sees a chance to fill the gap in his life. But when things begin to spiral out of control, Corbin can no longer cope. Feedback from her school and library visits has been enthusiastic.īirdspellCorbin Hayes is used to being alone. It is very touching and can be eye opening.Valerie is an experienced presenter (in-person and virtual visits) who uses humour and an interactive style to engage her audience. I would recommend this book for everyone. Don't use fate as a cause to be unhappy, for it was never meant to be that way," (24-25). Live each day and close your eyes each night with the knowledge that you've spent the hours well. But the real tragedy would be if you allowed it to make you bitter and therefore wasted the time you have left. It may seem unfair to you that your time is coming at such a young age. My favourite quote from the book is, "we will all die at some time or other. It made me reflect a lot on my life, and I took a lot from this book. I cried several times reading this story because of how touching it was. Through out the story, you can see that Kate is a normal teenager she has feelings, worries and problems. She then meets a boy who is in jail and quickly falls in love with him. The story is about a fourteen year old girl named Katherine (Kate), who from the start of the book tells the reader she has a brain tumour and is dying. Finally I gave it a read and wow is all I could sum up. My sister was the first to read Kate and had recommended it to me several times. This book took me about an hour to read.but honestly, it was very touching.
